13th Puchon Film Festival

This tempts me - via Twitch I learnt of July's Puchon Film Festival, a two week event held in Bucheon 부천 from the 16th to the 26th.

On the weekend of the 18th there's another chance to see Thirst 박쥐 with English subtitles, and a quaint looking Czech film entitled Mysterious Castle in the Carpathians. Also offered - the premieres of Good Night Sleep for the Bad, Bloody Shake, Today and the Other Days and Norwegian Woods, sidled with older Korean fare A Triangular Trap & The Flower at the Equator. There's new horror with Malaysia's Susuk, Macabre from Indonesia and the Thai Meat Grinder. Japanese films include MW, Ain't No Tomorrows and Yamagata Scream (fascinatingly awful judging by this trailer), and from China The Equation of Love and Death + HK's True Women for Sale. Most films at the festival are on show in Korea for the first time.

All these films also look very interesting:

Eroticscape : 1980's Korean Urban Erotica

UPDATE: the festival's various themed schedules

World Fantastic Cinema

Strange Hommage

Off the Fantastic

Forbidden Zone

Current Korean cinema is also represented by showings of Handphone, Missing and the entire Whispering Corridors series.

  1. Fantastic! Thanks for this news! I missed this last year and have been looking forward to checking it out. I can't wait to go through the site and find which films to attend.
